Celebrating 100 years, 145 countries, 10 million girl guides and girl scouts around the world. WAGGGS is the worlds largest international voluntary organisation for girls. There are five regions Africa, Arab, Asia, Pacific, Europe and western hemisphere. WAGGGS has four world centres. The world centres are in London,Mexico,Switzerland, and India.

Our chalet ,Switzerland
This is the first world centre and was set up in 1932. Its aim is to be an international home where everybody can find challenge,adventure and peace for the soul while having fun and living the international friendship. All year round they organise programme events and activities with their main focus on offering opportunities to youth and adults to get close to nature as well as develop to their fullest potential through outdoor challenges , 'We strive for each guest to have a genuine international experience and leave our chalet with a sense of enhanced respect for the environment and overall positive attitude. Our chalet aims to engage, empower, and support young women and all youth so they can make a difference in their communities.
Location: Our chalet is situated up high in the mountains (1350 metres/4500 feet above sea level) on the outskirts of the Swiss alpine village Adelboden, located at the heart of the Bernese Oberland. Adelboden is just one hour away from Bern, the capital of Switzerland.

Pax Lodge, United Kingdom
Location: Pax Lodge is situated in Hampstead,Northern London, 20 minutes from the hearth of London. Pax Lodge is next door to the world bureau, the international headquarters of WAGGS.
Their mission is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.
Over the last 80 years their has been WAGGS world centres in London.The first world centre in London was Our Ark 1939-1959, then Olave house 1959-1988, now there is pax lodge which was opened in1991.

Our Cabana, Mexico
Guais de Mexico (Mexican guides) was founded in 1930 in Mexico and became an associate member of girl guides in 1948 and a full member in 1957.Our Cabana was opened in July 1957 and has welcomed over 70,000 girl guides and girl scouts from all over the world since. It can accommodate over 100 people making it the largest of all the world centres.
Location and weather: Our cabana is located in Cuervnaca and is set among over 5 acres of land. The climate in Cuervnaca is very unique. The city is called the city of eternal springs with 365 days of Sunshine.The year is split into two distinct seasons, the dry season of October-May and the rainy season of June-September. The weather becomes warmer in April and May, it may reach 35degrees Celsius. In November to April they have warm mornings and cool nights, around 18-20. December and January are the coolest, the temperature is no less than 18.

Sangam, India
Sangam was founded in 1966. It is located in Pune, India on the banks of the Mula river. The word sangam means ,Coming together, in the ancient language of sanskit.
Their aim is to provide outstanding international opportunities for community leadership,life long learning and self development in a multi cultural environment to build a better world.
Their staff is made up of international and local employees and volunteers.

The world centres have welcomed over 8730 guests from 97 member organisations during 2008.Members of WAGGGS and non members can stay in the world centres.The centres provide work opportunities that focus on personal and processional development. Each world centre is staffed with a small international team of volunteers and professional staff.Their staff is made up of international and local employees. Adult members of WAGGGS from around the world can volunteer for between six weeks and ten months to help with programme and guest services.
Guiding in Ireland-IGG
Guiding has been in Ireland since 1911 when the first guide unit was set up in Harold's cross, Dublin. Guides is for girls aged 5-26 and leaders of all ages.Ladybirds go from age 5-7,Brownies age 7-11,Guides 11-15, senior branch 15-26, and leaders 26 up.
There are seven regions of guides in Ireland covering all 26 counties.
Below is a picture of the IGG uniforms. Each group has a different colour. Ladybirds wear red,brownies yellow,guides blue and pink , senior branch navy and green, and leaders wear purple.

Roverway 2012
Roverway is a joint WAGGGS and scout event for 16-22 year old scouts and guides from all over the world. The event will take place in Finland from the 20-28th of July 2012. It is a nine day long programme. There will be over 3000 participants going.

Camp 101 is an International camping event taking place in Lough Key forest park, Co.Rosscomon this July. Their will be guides from all of Ireland and from around the world going. The event is called "Camp 101" as it is 2011 was the centenary of Girl guides. The camp will have a global action theme focusing on the millennium development goals.
